Information Needed Before the Bond
While I have to have the cosigner’s paperwork filled out and signed before I can drop the bond off, I can get the defendant to fill out and sign their paperwork when they’re released. However, it does help things go more smoothly if we can get as much information as soon as possible. Nobody wants to stop and do paperwork on their way out of jail, so if you have any of the defendant’s information, it’s very helpful if you can pass some or all of it along while you’re doing your paperwork.
A Word About the References
Most people can tell you their address and social security number off the top of their head, but it’s a little more difficult to remember the addresses and phone numbers of people, particularly when you’re getting out of jail at 4:00 in the morning, your cell phone is dead and you haven’t slept. Even if you can’t provide any of the other information for the defendant, getting the names, addresses and phone numbers of their references together while we’re waiting for them to be processed is very helpful. Keep in mind that as long as the defendant shows up for his court dates, these aren’t people that we’re ever going to call. If they do miss court and we can’t get in touch with them through their contact information or the cosigner’s, then we would call and ask if they know where the defendant is. They’re not on the hook for any money and they’re not responsible for anything. Feel free to call anytime if you have any questions.
How To Complete The Paperwork
It's much easier to take care of the paperwork remotely, but if you prefer, I can meet you somewhere convenient and you can fill it out and sign it in person. For our remote paperwork process, I'll need the cosigner's information as listed above, as much of the defendant's information as is available, and the cosigner's email address. I can take your information over the phone, or you can email it to me at brad@bayoubailbonds.net. Once I've got the information, I'll type it up and email the forms to you ready to sign. You will receive one email with a three page attachment. You will need to check to make sure your information is correct, then sign twice on the first page (once in the middle and once at the bottom), and one more signature at the bottom of the third page. Send it back in and you're done. You can take care of all the paperwork without leaving your house!
