Bond Amount and Fee Calculation

How Bail Costs Are Calculated

Bail bond pricing in Louisiana is set by state law, so every bail bondsman charges the same rate. While payment plans and financing options may vary, the actual cost of bailing someone out does not. The total amount you pay depends not only on the bond amounts but also on how many separate charges there are.

  1. Bail bondsmen charge 10% of each bond amount plus a $25 application fee per defendant.

  2. The jail also adds a 2% premium and jail fees up to $30 per charge.

  3. Any bond under $1,000 is charged as if it were $1,000. That means a single $1,000 bond costs $175 to bail out, while two smaller bonds of $100 each would cost $325 due to the extra fees. This is why bail costs can sometimes seem higher for smaller bonds than for a single large bond.

  4. Jail fees differ depending on which court charges the defendant.

  5. Ouachita Parish (4th Judicial District) charges $30 per charge

  6. Monroe and West Monroe City courts charge $15 per charge.

Most defendants are charged in the district court, so the calculator is set up with these fees in mind.  This is only an estimate.  Call (318) 538-7877 for exact pricing.
